Solar: A Bright Future for El Paso
------
Hello Everyone, Just a couple of items that I thought I would bring to your attention as part of our educational outreach efforts.
1) On Monday the 19th, at 9:00AM, at City Hall there will be an opportunity to show your support for solar in El Paso!!! The El Paso Electric rate case is a great opportunity for the solar and sustainability living community to let our City leaders know that we have solutions for making solar power a reality here in El Paso.
I've included a link to a great guide for making renewable energy part of a renewable energy portfolio - Solar Powering your Community - from the Department of Energy.
Also, here are the two letters that outline a great strategy for El Paso that will be presented on Monday.
2) Remember to come out to the El Paso Zoo for their "Party for the Planet: Earth Day 2010" on April 24th. For more information check out the El Paso Zoo's website.
More Education stuff:

December's meeting played host to 5 members of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program at Coronado High School. They presented their plans for doing their CAS project, part of the enhanced curricular activities required by the IB program, with a focus on solar energy. According to team "SOLAR" they're efforts will concentrate on building community awareness about solar energy in the "everyday."
Asked why they chose solar as their area of concentration, they said that solar represented the future of a renewable energy mix and who better to talk about the future than students who will be living in it. Team “SOLAR” plans on showing solar technology in area parks, talking to other students from both their school and area schools about solar, and joining a global initiative that brings solar and renewable energy issues to light for their school.
EPSEA looks forward to partnering and supporting them as they learn for themselves, teach others, and bring solar awareness to El Paso and the surrounding community. Go SOLAR.
